Millsboro

Small town feel while still maintaining the amenities of a larger town.

Welcome to Millsboro

A growing community that maintains a small-town charm

Millsboro is a small but growing community located in southern coastal Delaware. Being on the US-113 corridor not only allows quick access into and out Millsboro to places like Dover, and Milford, but also provides a passageway for businesses to grow in the southern and coastal Delaware regions. With quick access to the Delaware coastline, a day at the beach is not out of the ordinary for those looking to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the large cities.

Like other towns in the southern Delaware region, the area surrounding Millsboro is either agricultural or conceded to the wetlands and marshes of the region. As a result, those looking for small-town charm will be gladly welcomed into this ever-growing community. Dupont Boulevard holds the main commercial area of the town. It has most of the shops and dining establishments. People from out of town may want to rest up for the night in one of the hotels.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Like coastal Delaware and the beaches that dominate the area, Millsboro provides a rural, laid-back lifestyle with small-town charm. With the influx of people on US-113, the population of the ever-growing town has increased year after year, especially as travelers fall in love with the area after a beach trip. The local industry is spurred by several larger stores and the hospitality industry. However, one can still find some peace and quiet in the business district. Golf courses and country clubs dot the area, offering an excellent opportunity to socialize with other members and enjoy the sport.

Millsboro residents embrace life on the water. Access to Indian River Bay from the center of town provides an excellent opportunity for fishing, boating, and other watersports on white sand beaches and an escape from the tourists.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Due to the local tourist economy from highway commerce as well as the beach, the Millsboro area has become home to a surprisingly eclectic dining and restaurant experience. Finally, Serendipity Restaurant prides itself on Italian fare with seating overlooking the Indian River.

Entertainment in the area is defined by events taking place on the beach and there are many summer concerts to enjoy. For indoor fun, visit Millsboro Lanes bowling alley.

While Millsboro is isolated from some of the other larger cities in Delaware, large town amenities are readily available given a short drive to the center of town. Visit the Antique Mall of Millsboro, to browse for historic items and handcrafted goods using locally sourced materials. The Millsboro US-113 corridor is a thriving mecca for commercial establishments now as the area sees continued growth.

Things to Do

Due to the pristine natural wilderness surrounding Millsboro, residents have a wide range of outdoor activities at the ready. The Flounder Pounder Open is the world’s largest flounder fishing competition. Watch and see how professional fishermen work to gain the top prize. If history is more important, consider visiting the Nanticoke Indian Museum, to learn about the history of the area, its original settlers, and the traditions of the Indians that first set foot in Delaware.

For a more relaxing experience, visit Cupola Park. It is a multipurpose area for families with children to play on the swingset, or for fishermen to hone their skills at the mouth of the Indian River. Whatever you’re looking for, the park is an excellent meeting spot for the entire community. Finally, no outing in Millsboro would be complete without golf, so visit the Baywood Greens Golf Course, for a luxurious experience from the second you step onto the course until you’ve finished hitting the links.
